Every toddler enjoys playing games. Games are a great way to educate and interact with your child. Toddler Games should be geared towards the age of your child and should be fun and interactive. Toddler games should also incorporate both fine and gross motor skills.
Fine motor skills are working with the small muscle groups. This will enhance your childs writing skills in the future as well as cutting with scissors and much more. Fine motor skills take quite some time to develop in children. As a former teacher of the first grade, I often worked on fine motor skills with children of that age as well. Toddler games that encourage fine motor skills are definately encouraged for your childs development.
Gross motor skills are that of developing the large muscle groups. This will help your child with balancing, grasping objects, etc. Gross motor skilss and fine motor skills go hand in hand. They should both be developed simultaneously and worked on with your toddler. Toddler games that encourage gross motor skills are definately encouraged in your childs development.
Toddlers learn best through play, interaction, and modeling. Toddler games that encourage these aspects are best suited for your child. While you are playing with your child, model the behavior or skill that you are trying to teach them. Talk to your child as you are performing all tasks that you are doing. Say things like, 'Mommy is washing the dishes. I put the soap on the dish rag and scrub. Now I am rinsing the dishes.' Just basically narrate what you are doing. This encourages speech development as well. Your child will love the toddler game you are playing with them.
Finally, make sure that you are interacting with your child postively in all aspects of their development. Toddler games are a great place to start for positive interaction with your child. Make sure that you look for toddler games that are educational, yet fun and interactive.
