Florida is one state that places an emphasis on the protection of children involved in a divorce. The best interests of the child are the guiding principles in Florida. Domestic relations law of the state outline a list of factors a judge must consider in every custody decision: 1. the childs school and home history; 2. the permanence of the childs proposed home; 3. the continuity of the childs situation; 4. the parents ability to provide the necessities of life; 5. love, affection, and existing ties with either parent; 6. any history of domestic violence; and 7. the parent most likely to promote the childs continued contact and relationship with the other parent.

After taking a paternity test, there are two possible result scenarios. The first would be exclusion, which means that the man is proven not to be the biological father. The second scenario would be inclusion, which means that the man is considered to be the biological father. There are at-home tests that can be performed, but these tests can be inconclusive and may not be admissible in a court of law. In order to ensure proper custody, child support and having the child know his/her father with certainty, paternity testing should be done at a medical testing center that can certify the results.

Paternity testing would include the mother, child and the potential father. In most cases, a simple swab of the cheek is used to collect DNA samples. The procedure is painless and requires a minimal amount of time spent at the collection site. The swab is similar to that of a cotton Q-tip, which is rubbed against the inside cheek. Loose cells immediately adhere to the swab, which is later tested for DNA comparison.

After testing, results are often available within one week. This depends on the time of year, demand for testing and other factors. Then they will yell, cry, or otherwise demand your attention while you are trying to get, or give necessary information. It can be very frustrating being interrupted while youre on a roll. So how do you keep your kids busy and out of your hair without feeling like a terrible mother?

Doing your job with your kids around isnt easy. But with a few helpful hints, and some creativity, you can get a lot of work done and still spend time with your kids.

The first thing you should do is invest in a good quality headset for your office phone. Youll want it to have a mute feature, and an adjustable volume control. The mute feature is great for when your child starts yelling for you; just let your caller know and click the button. You can deal quickly with your child and still remain professional with your client.

Plan some easy crafts for your child to do each day. Crayons, markers, coloring books, something simple your child can do while youre talking. Also, keep a box of age appropriate construction-style toys for your child near your desk. They are wonderful tools for creative children and when that important call comes in, all you have to do is ask your child to build you something special for some quiet business time.

Another helpful thing is to keep a box of old toys and favorite treats by your desk. When the phone rings, pull out an old favorite of your childs and watch them quietly play while you talk.

A way to get your child to respect your telephone time is to use a timer when youre on the phone. Set the time to keep track of how long youre on your phone call. Then be sure to spend that much time with your child later on. If you respect their time, theyll learn to respect yours.

Give your child their own work space. Use a small table and chair as their desk. Then you can outfit your childs work desk with age appropriate items; paper, colors, scissors, glue, even an old phone you dont use anymore. Many times, children want to be just like mommy, and thats why they try to get into the middle of everything you do. If you give them their own assignments, with their own space, you will find they are quieter when you are trying to get your work done.

As a last resort, use a video or DVD as a distraction. Keep some movies your child likes to watch, or ones they havent seen yet, to keep your child entertained during that important call. Remember its not good to let your child watch TV all day, but a half hour or so wont hurt.

If none of these hints work, you may just have to go into a spare bedroom or the bathroom and close the door. And learn to talk fast.

You can get the job done, and spend quality time with your kids, if you just learn to plan your time accordingly. And find creative ways to keep your child entertained during the day.

As parents, we naturally want to shield our children from pain and grief, but most experts agree that masking the reality of whats happening can only add to a childs confusion. We need to be honest and shouldnt avoid using words like 'death' and 'dying', even though very young children may not be able to grasp their finality. Phrases like 'put to sleep', on the other hand, can connect harmful connotations to normal activities; if a child thinks that sleep is something from which he may not recover, he could develop an unnecessary phobia of going to bed.

If a pets decline is due to age or illness, and euthanasia is recommended by your veteranarian, it can be helpful to include your child in the decision-making process. Explain the stiuation honestly: 'Spot is in a lot of pain, and the doctor cant make him better. We dont want him to suffer, and we can help him die in peace.'

Your vet has experience in explaining the problems of illness and the process of euthanasia to children, and most vets are happy to help you answer your childs questions. As well, if your pet has suffered traumatic injury, your vet is the best resource to explain the reasons for death.

Encourage your child to express his feelings. It may not happen with words-your child may not yet possess the nuance of vocabulary necessary to properly convey such feelings. He may find it easier to draw a picture of his life now, without his friend.

Express your own feelings, as well. Tell your child how sad the loss of Spot makes you feel. Hiding your pain may make your child wonder if youd miss him, if he were gone.

But when a middle class, hard working, law abiding couple wants to adopt a child they have to jump through more hoops than a clown at a three ring circus. He wonders why.

In this article well try to explain some of the problems and red tape associated with a couple trying to adopt a child.

For starters, adoption law varies from state to state. Yes, there are laws, and depending on where you live those laws can be quite different but there are some laws that are pretty common across the board. There is the Consent to Adoption. This consent refers to the agreement by a parent, or a person or agency acting in place of a parent, to relinquish the child for adoption and to release all rights and duties with respect to that child. In other words before you can adopt the child the birth parent or agency in charge, if the birth parents are dead, has to give consent for the adoption to take place.

Then there is the parties to adoption. In order for an adoption to take place, a person available to be adopted must be placed in the home of a person or persons eligible to adopt. All States, the District of Columbia, and the US territories Guam, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the Virgin Islands have laws that specify which persons are eligible as adopting parents, and which persons can be adopted. In other words they decide whether or not they think the adoptive parents are fit and this varies from state to state.

So who CAN adopt? Generally speaking anyone over the age of 18 but in some states 21 and still in others the minimum age is 25. Again, this is all state regulated. There are some states that allow minors to adopt under certain circumstances but this is very rare. In some states the adopting parents must be at least 10 years older than the child. So if you want to adopt a 15 year old boy you have to be at least 25 years of age. Then there is the residency question. Most states require that you be living at your current residence for at least 60 days.

So who can BE adopted? Generally, anyone under the age of 18. Of course depending on the state there are some additional requirements. For example, in some states the child has to be living in that state at the time of the adoption. So if you wanted to adopt someone from overseas you wouldnt be able to. In some states this extends further to the child having to be a resident for a certain length of time. Some states do allow the adoption of a person regardless of age but this is very rare.

Then there is the question of WHO can place a child for adoption. This is usually the birth parent or parents unless both are dead and then it is the agency to which custody of the child was appointed.

But this gets even more complicated. What if the birth mother and father are not married and the mother wants to put the child up for adoption but the father does not? This becomes an extremely messy situation. First there is the court battle between the mother and father to determine who gets the say in the matter. In most cases unless the mother is proven unfit the right to place the child up for adoption is granted. If not, however, then a determination has to be made as to whether or not the father is given custody of the child. We are assuming at this point that since he was against the adoption that he will want to keep the child, but he is in no way legally obligated to do this and can put the child up for adoption at a later date.

Then there are the adoption fees. In most states the adoptive parents have to pay these fees and they can be enormous, going into the tens of thousands of dollars. My associate thinks this is absurd. The parents dont want the child but its the adoptive parents who have to pay to get the child even though the child isnt wanted. Some would say that is hard logic to argue with. As you can see, adoption is not simple. Add to all the above that the adoption process can be a very lengthy one, sometimes taking years, it makes you wonder why anyone would go through the trouble. For that matter why would someone have to when there are so many unwanted children in the world?

Unless the child can learn what he or she needs to, the homeschooled child wont receive an accredited diploma for advancement.

An accredited homeschool diploma is necessary for homeschooled children. The homeschool program offers the curriculum similar to public schools but, yet, provides the freedom of homeschooling. It is an asset that is needed if a child wants to take his/her education and career further in life.

Prior to this a child perceives the surrounding world by eyesight and hearing, now they will be trying to touch this or that object. From this point of view it is good for the child to have diverse choice of toys in form and texture. You may offer your child a plastic or rubber toys as well as plush and soft ones. During this period of time (3-6 months) the range of movements of your child is widening, that means you have to 'refresh' the spectrum of his or her available toys. Rubber small 'animals-tweeters', tilting dolls and primitive musical instruments with big keys represent an inexhaustible source of interest. They are 'alive'! They speak, cry, and laugh…when the child touches them.

Thus, these simple exercises with toys help to establish connections with different parts of the brain; which are respondent for visual, auditory, tactile perception and moving functions. Efforts that a child makes trying to master the toy he or she is interested in and difficulties connected with it develop one of the main human capacities- to act purposely and intelligently. Behaviour of your child with the toy is a real independent way to research and discover, as an object as well as an investigation of the potential of his or her own body is a discovery period for all.

It is very important in this period of time not to overburden the childs attention- give him or her a chance to come to know the particulars of one toy, and only after thats should you- offer another one. There is one more detail; charm of novelty always attracts your child; in order not let his or her favourite toy become boring; hide it from time to time, thus after a short period of time the little one will be happy to see it as if it was a new one.
