Online Games - Play With Your Children To Stop Worrying

By CD Mohatta

Talking about online games, the varieties are many and the levels at which the games can be played are also many. As apparent, play the game with your child for some days in the beginning. Watch his/her reaction while playing the online game. Find out the violence of the game. Find out if the online game can benefit your child. Many online games can sharpen your childs skill. Rather than blaming something that your child will continue with, take responsibility and help your child learn from that. Your children will also love your togetherness. You will also spend some quality time with your children while playing online game with them..

Todays parents are becoming so busy that they have very less time for their children. Once the child stops getting parental love and affection the child tries getting joy with other activities. Society does not produce bullies for no reason. Your children are dependent on you for all their emotional support and guidance. Please give it to them. Please join them in doing what they love. Trying to order and ask them to stop will not serve your responsibility. A responsible parent has to go much beyond that. Join them and play the online games they love to play. You can easily control the time period for which they play online games and have peace of mind.

The article author, C.D.Mohatta wants you to visit the website Your Fun Games to you. Play free online games and puzzle games at this website.

Video Games: Right for YOUR Child?

By Lisa Gonzalez

Age

Age is not a factor in choosing a video game system for a child, and yet most parents tend to look at the suggested age on products. While some people may argue that a new PS3 is suitable for teens, it may or may not be.

Individually

Parents should take a long look at their child before choosing a game system. There are a lot of factors to consider. How sensitive is your child to certain things like violence in games?

Some children understand that a game is a game, while others take games a step ahead and begin to mimic themes into life.

Somehow video games can turn into reality for children as they begin to relate real life experiences to the games.

Making the Choice

Parents should take a look at the games available for a particular system before making the purchase. My children are between the ages of 5 and 8, but we found that the Nintendo GameCube is more suitable offering a variety of games for our children.

They are able to play classic non-violent games that we choose, and they love it!

Weve also purchased several plug-n-play games that connect directly to the television, some use batteries which costs but parents can often purchase an adapter to allow the game to be plugged into an electrical outlet to save money.

Think of what you want your child to be exposed to, what he or she can handle, the cost of the games, and always monitor the time your child spends playing games.

Research has shown that good ole fashioned playing outdoors is more beneficial than being cooped up playing video games, but video games are still fun that can be enjoyed … the right way.

A Great Learning Experience When Playing Video Games

By Chris Elliott

While many people believe that online video games can increase anti-social behaviors, violence, loss of communication skills, and even health issues, such as obesity, some critics seem to agree that online video games can help the game players increase hand eye coordination. In this sense, it seems to be that most critics have already recognized the beneficial effects of video games in their mind.

Online educational games provide game players brain training that can help them become even more intelligent. These games work by testing the cognitive functions of your brain, such as memory, reasoning, logical decision making, and so fort .Let's visualize yourself working out at a local health club to get your body in shape, playing educational video games is just like taking your brain to the same gym to get mentally in shape.
Educational games are often viewed as boring, un-cool, and primitive, but the truth is that educational games could be as much fun as any other types of game. Often, those educational game player could have a lot more fun because they feel rewarded from the game. Think back to that game of trivia you played with friends a few years ago, do you remember how good you felt when getting the right answer? That's a type of feeling the game player could get from education games. The more people play these games, the greater confidence they have and which could bring them a better chance of succeeding at whatever they set their mind to achieve.

The best place to play free educational video games is on the internet. The internet could provide you a platform for educational learning which never happens before. Educational games have become an interesting and useful for the users. One of significant interests for many users is learning skills that can be applied in their workplace. One example of where this occurs is in the dental field. Many dental websites include online educational games that are both fun, informative, and catered towards user interests. Games could be, for example, Wordsearch, Matching Pair, and Crossword Puzzle. Each game will be fun and interactive for the user to learn real vocational terms that they can also use in their office.
The internet has transcended the traditional boundaries of online games by offering useful, and beneficial and educational contents for the user. After you play a few on line games, ask yourself if you've learned anything new and you will be probably surprised with the answer.

Child Birthday Party Game Ideas

By Mike Dougherty

The Secret Of The Mummy

Divide your party guests into two teams… Have each team choose a player to be 'the Mummy.'

Then give each team three rolls of toilet paper… Then start your party theme music and see which team is first to wrap up their Mummy from head to toe… To make things more fun, you might want to give them a two minute time limit… A great child birthday party game idea!

Whats That Smell

Blindfold each party guest one at a time, then place something in a paper bag for them to smell and see if they can guess what it is…

Try a peppermint, gum, toothpaste, cheese, a slice of pizza, cherry candy, grape candy, a banana, peanut butter or something milder like a slice of bread.

The Great Detective

A child birthday party game idea theyre sure to love.

Have your birthday child go into another room and make a slight change in their appearance… Put on something different, one different sock, reposition their hat, or take off or add some jewelry… Then have them come back in the room with their party guests and see which guest is 'the great detective' and can figure out whats different.

Quick Change Artist

Give each child a bag that contains a big over-sized shirt, big pants, big socks and a big knit or floppy hat… Start your party theme music and say 'ready - set - go!'

Each player starts putting the baggy clothes over their own clothing.,.. The first one to put on all the clothes from the bag is 'the quick change artist.'

You might want to have your party guests remove their shoes to make it easier to get the big socks on their feet.

Sneak Attack

Have your birthday child sit in a chair in the middle of the room and place a blindfold over their eyes… Place an object under the chair. It can be a stuffed animal, a toy, a small bag of candy or a wrapped gift.

Keep everyone quiet as your party guests try to sneak up (one at a time) and take the object under the chair… If your birthday child tags them, that player is out and the next player must try and take the object… Your birthday child can move their arms around, but dont let them use their feet.

Silly Dress-Up

A great child birthday party game idea for everyone.

Take lots of wild - colored shirts, pants, hats, socks, scarves, jackets and anything else you can think of and have your party guests see who can come up with the silliest, funniest, craziest costume.

Wild Animal Act

Write the name of an animal on a piece of paper, fold the paper in half (so you cant see whats written) then put all the pieces of paper in a bowl… Have one party guest take a piece of paper out of the bowl and act out that animal… The first player to guess the animal correctly then takes a piece of paper from the bowl and acts out that animal… Keep playing until all your party guests have had a turn.

Wacky Balloon Race

Divide your party guests into two teams… Have one player from each team put a balloon between their knees… When you say 'go,' start your theme music and both players race to the finish line without dropping or popping their balloon.

If a balloon pops or the player drops their balloon, that player has to start all over again with a new balloon…

Every player on each team must race with the balloon. The team that finishes first wins.

Child Birthday Party Game Ideas

You can vary each of these games to make them appropriate for the age group of your party…

Have fun, laugh, enjoy, take lots of pictures and shoot plenty of video!

GamerCycle Building Healthy Kids

By Sari El-Dajjani

With the GamerCycle, you want your child to play video games and watch TV often. The GamerCycle fitness system turns completely sedentary time into 100%25 physical activity.

Do you ever wonder why your kids don't play outside all day or go out and jump on their bikes first thing in the morning? Are you a parent that has children that are inactive and stuck to their television sets and Play Station's or XBOX all day? Do you wish your children were getting sufficient exercise on a daily basis and were not stuck to their television sets all day? Then the GamerCycle fitness system is the solution to all your questions and worries. The GamerCycle is a fitness system that turns completely sedentary time into 100%25 physical activity. It's true! It's an exercise bike that hooks up to your TV, Play Station and X Box! How does the exercise bike help children playing video games or watching TV all day? In order for your child to keep playing their video games or watching TV, they need to keep pedaling. You stop pedaling and the TV or video game will turn off. It's that simple! Before I go into detail and tell you more about the GamerCycle and its popularity with parents and children today, let me fill you in on a few cultural trends regarding video games and children.

The quality and graphics of video games are getting better and better, so it's likely that kid's passion for playing them will only increase. It is very unlikely children will stop playing video games today!

Recently there have been several cultural trends that are becoming a contributing factor to video game popularity. Physical activities such as soccer, baseball and gymnastics tend to be structured and time-bound. This means children have plenty of free time to play. Parents are becoming less comfortable allowing their kids to play outside or ride their bikes. This means with less, activities to hold their attention for so long, kids are turning to video games, especially on rainy days where kids can't go out and play. Recent studies show that many video games have positive mental and hand eye coordination benefits. But we've also heard that it's unhealthy for children to spend a 1/3 of their day playing video games and watching TV. So what can we do? This is where the GamerCycle fitness system comes in.

Cycling which uses the largest muscle groups in our bodies is one of the most popular and effective forms of Exercise. It provides a good caloric burn while upping one's metabolic rate.

Exercise is best when it can be made fun so that it doesn't become something children rebel against and dread. The GamerCycle was designed with this concept in mind. The fitness exercise machine doesn't interfere with the actual playing of the video game - the player is mentally focused on the game while his or her body gets the exercise it needs. Kids will sometimes play video games for hours on end, so the GamerCycle is designed to be very ergonomic and comfortable, allowing countess hours of play. Finally, cycling is one of the most popular and effective forms of exercise. Cycling uses the largest muscle groups in our bodies, thereby providing a good caloric burn while upping one's metabolic rate. So rather than having video play time become a constant child and parent battleground, parents and children start to understand each other and get along. Children appreciate the concerns parents show for their health. They may not show it, but they do want us to protect them, guide them and make them do things they don't want to do.

GamerCycle Fitness System introduces exercise into your children's lives in a fun fashion way, thus providing them with a cornerstone for other physical activities.

The GamerCycle fitness system is a design with many benefits. First, the fitness system minimizes the concern that children are playing video games too much and not getting any exercise everyday. Second, the GamerCycle reduces the constant arguing between parents and children about video game play time. In addition, the video game playtime would no longer be a "couch potato" activity. If children want to play video games or watch TV, they need to use the GamerCycle. What the GamerCycle does is improve children's self-esteem, by getting them into better shape. The fitness system introduces exercise into your children's lives in a fun fashion way, thus providing them with a cornerstone for other physical activities.

In addition the numerous benefits mentioned above, the GamerCycle fitness system adds many health benefits to your children. It's a clever design that achieves health benefits such as maintaining a healthy weight, improving cardiovascular performance, reducing stress levels and last but not least improving muscle density and muscle mass. Whether your kids are active or not, the GamerCycle fitness system is sure to improve to your children's health by preventing them from being total couch potatoes.

The GamerCycle Fitness Machine works with DVD Players, VCR's, TV's and all game consoles such as XBOX, Play Station, Game Cube, etc….

So how does the GamerCycle work? Simple. The bike hooks up to your game console, DVD, VCR or TV through an extra long 18-foot video cable. This means the GamerCycle fitness machine can be placed up to 18' away from the TV. The dual-purpose bike works as a video bike or just a regular exercise bike. It does not interrupt the power to the game console or TV. Instead it acts like a video switch so that as long as you pedal you can see the picture. The bike features a built in timer with an audible alarm, which allows family members to evenly share playtime. The bike also features a parent controlled bypass key. The bypass key allows children to watch or play video games without having to pedal. So you have the option to turn it on and off with a simple key. With a an adjustable pedal tension and a comfortable padded angled back seat children will enjoy many hours on the Gamercycle. The Gamercycle works with DVD players, VCR's, TV's and all game consoles (XBOX, Play Station, Game Cube, etc.).

Cornerstone for the young ones so they get in shape and get ready to take on soccer, swimming, or other activities.

The GamerCycle fitness system is NOT an interactive video product. You don't control the players in the game by pedaling or steering, nor does the GamerCycle interfere with the normal operation of the video games (the game, movie or TV power never shuts off). That is the beauty of the concept - robust exercise in parallel with video game fun. GamerCycle won't be the end-all and be-all for children's health and fitness. It is a valuable addition to other existing physical activities or the cornerstone for the young ones so they get in shape and are ready to take on soccer, swimming, or other activities. Together with the GamerCycle we can beat the oncoming health problems of our children's future. To learn more about GamerCycle, please visit Coconutz Home and Garden.

Try Educational Games

By Kirstine Pallette

All parents want their children to grow up having lots of fun. Parents provide opportunities for their kids to participtate in sports and clubs of all kinds. If they are able, parents fill their home with toys and games to keep their children entertained and happy with things that are safe for kids to do. Parents should, however, see to it that their children have more than just fun. Childhood should be a time filled with learning and trying new things. Parents can combine their child's desire for fun with their need for learning by choosing educational games.

Educational games are great because they are just what their name suggests: games that provide children with fun and promote their education at the same time. Parents who take seriously their responsibility to help their children learn new things and grow in important knowledge will be pleased to know that educational games are becoming increasingly available and popoular for kids of all ages.

Think about your children's ages and the unique educational needs they currently have. A three year old should be learning different things than an eight year old. If you are unsure of what educational games to buy for your kids, do a little research to see what kinds of needs your kids have and then find educational games to fit those needs. Talk to your children's teachers to get good ideas of the needs that each of your kids have. Teachers will likely be able to suggest specific skills and goals that you can work on at home.

Educational games are a great way for parents to get involved in educating their children. Consider substituting educational games instead of a sporting event or an after school club that your kids are involved in. Find ways to balance the things your kids love to do with the things your kids need to be learning. In no time you may find that your kids choose educational games on their own once their learn how fun the games can be. It is a great thing when kids begin to request that educational games be a part of family time or a game night. Families can spend hours of quality time together laughing as they learn.

You can find educational games at many stores or online. Many companies are creating a wide variety of educational games for every budget. The next time you are tempted to pick up the latest video game for your child or to enroll them in an after school club, consider instead teaching your children to love learning by purchasing educational games for them.

After raising four children and purchasing hundreds of educational games, Kirstine Pallette is proud to advise other parents in the art of combining fun and learning. See www.alleducationalgames.info to learn more.

Educational Toys, Video Games and Enron

By Ted Moryto

I was watching CBS 60 Minutes and they had an article on Echo Boomers. A prominent professor and pediatrician was told by a fortune 500 executive that the thing that struck him most about the new generation coming into the workforce, was their lack of long term vision. He said that they treated business like a video game, where if they didn't see instant results, then it wasn't of interest. He also commented that today's young employees cannot proceed in a step wise fashion, cannot accomplish a task in a methodical way. As a retailer of educational toys I immediately drew a connection. The pediatrician noted that the echo boomers had been coddled by their parents, driven to soccer practice, provided with trophies for participating. He had observed that when left to play by themselves without adult organization, they were often lost.

I couldn't help but think of the Enron scandal, where earnings were fabricated to meet the expectations of the market. I know those involved in Enron are of an earlier generation, but are we teaching similar behaviour through video games.

Educational toys have always been a mainstay of my children's fun and games. We often use science kits and science toys as fun activities on a rainy day. My children are still impulsive, but they are also prepared to make sacrifices for something that excites them.
Educational toys may not be the solution to all the world's problems but I think they are a good place to start.

Ted Moryto is an engineer, father and owner of Brain Waves Educational Toys Canada. Click on http://www.brainwavestoys.com to see hundreds of fascinating educational toys, games and science kits.

Toddler Games

By L.D. Mairet

Every toddler enjoys playing games. Games are a great way to educate and interact with your child. Toddler Games should be geared towards the age of your child and should be fun and interactive. Toddler games should also incorporate both fine and gross motor skills.

Fine motor skills are working with the small muscle groups. This will enhance your childs writing skills in the future as well as cutting with scissors and much more. Fine motor skills take quite some time to develop in children. As a former teacher of the first grade, I often worked on fine motor skills with children of that age as well. Toddler games that encourage fine motor skills are definately encouraged for your childs development.

Gross motor skills are that of developing the large muscle groups. This will help your child with balancing, grasping objects, etc. Gross motor skilss and fine motor skills go hand in hand. They should both be developed simultaneously and worked on with your toddler. Toddler games that encourage gross motor skills are definately encouraged in your childs development.

Toddlers learn best through play, interaction, and modeling. Toddler games that encourage these aspects are best suited for your child. While you are playing with your child, model the behavior or skill that you are trying to teach them. Talk to your child as you are performing all tasks that you are doing. Say things like, 'Mommy is washing the dishes. I put the soap on the dish rag and scrub. Now I am rinsing the dishes.' Just basically narrate what you are doing. This encourages speech development as well. Your child will love the toddler game you are playing with them.

Finally, make sure that you are interacting with your child postively in all aspects of their development. Toddler games are a great place to start for positive interaction with your child. Make sure that you look for toddler games that are educational, yet fun and interactive.

Preschool Games

By L.D. Mairet

Preschool games are for children between the ages of two and five years of age, pre-kindergarten. Preschoolers should have a variety of different games to encourage proper mental and physical development. Emphasis needs to be placed in the focus areas of both fine and gross motor development, dramatic play, pre-reading skills, pre-writing skills, crtitical thinking skills, and social skills, as well as others.

Fine motor skills should be incorporated into preschool games. Fine motor skills are working with the small muscle groups and are the most forgotten. This will help define your child's writing skills, cutting skills, etc. in the future. Fine motor skills activities can include, sand and water play, cutting games, placing objects into small containers and areas, hand puppet plays with songs and many others.

Gross motor skills should be incorporated into preschool games. Gross motor skills are working with the large motor areas and are most often worked on. These games can be achieved by playing on the playground, throwing and kicking a ball, jumping, skipping, hopping, and any games that requires the use of your large muscle groups.

Dramatic play incorporated into your child's preschool games will help nurture your child's development. Dramatic play encourages your child to be creative, think, and reinact situations and scenarios on their own intelligence level. Children should be given props and toys to help them reinact different events for their learning skills.

Pre-reading and pre-writing skills should be incorporated into your child's preschool games. Some examples of these skills include reading to your child, reciting the ABC's, cutting with scissors, tracing lines with a pencil or crayon, and drawing and creating projects without lines. These pre-reading, pre-writing skills will help your preschooler develop the proper background for future life school skills.

Critical thinking skills should be incorporated into your child's curriculum. Critical thinking skills will help your child become a problem solver in the future. This will help in the areas of both math and science as well as other areas. Let your preschooler figure out different options and strategies to get to the same result. Let them think about the consequences and actions of their decisions.

Social skills are one of the most overlooked strategies in the areas of preschool games. social skills include playing with other children, however, the proper way to interact with children and other people should actually be taught. Appropriate behaviors need to be modeled and taught, how to share, how to take turns, how to say please and thank you, how to interact in a group, how to wait for their turn, how to be a gracious loser and a good winner, as well as many others.

In summation, preschool games are a very important part of your child's growth and educational process. Proper planning and instruction as well as modeling will prepare your child for their educational accomplishments to come. Please choose preschool games appropriately.

Spelling Games Parents Can Play With Their Kids

By Dave Poon

The first game involves scrambling the letters of one word in a sentence then letting the child unscramble the letters so the sentence makes sense.

Parents can also let their child draw pictures to go with these words then write a story about the pictures.

Parents can attach labels to objects around the house and let the child read them, afterwards the parents can remove the labels and let the child point out the objects, name them then spell out their names.

Parents can opt to buy computer games now on the market which are geared for first-grade level spellers.

Parents can write down spelling words on large slips of paper then place these in a container like a box. Then they can pull out one slip of paper at a time, read the word and have the child spell it out for them.

Parents can bake cookies with slips of spelling words inside these. As the child eats his cookie, he will find the slip of paper and be able to read it. The parent will then collect the slip of paper and ask the child to spell out his word from memory.

Parents can hide large pieces of paper around the house (each piece of paper has a spelling word on it) then ask the child to hunt for a particular word. Only when the child finds the correct word will he be rewarded.

While watching television together, the parent can ask the child to spell out words they hear on TV. This is crucial for developing the childs listening skills since he will rarely see the word spelled out on TV.

Or another activity that parents can ask their children to do is to take out a book and hunt for a certain word chosen by the parent. Or maybe the child can point out a word and then close the book and spell it from memory for the parent.

Parents may also encourage their children to play spelling games with their other friends. Playing with friends help children to be more excited with the spelling games. Make sure that the children are always motivated. You may incorporate spelling with their favorite games and sports.

It is important for parents to learn to reward their kids for spelling words correctly. it may be just a kiss or a hug, or something material such as a treat like ice cream or a candy bar, or even a short trip to the park. The main thing about rewards is that the child will feel that his efforts are acknowledged by his parents.

Not rewarding the child may make the efforts of both the child and his parents fruitless since the childs behavior is not reinforced. The child learns through this system that hard work is rewarded while parents learn to be patient teachers even though their child may make mistakes.

Daycare Home Where Small Children Can Play and Learn Fun Teaching Games

By Muna wa Wanjiru

The care provider is usually a woman or mother who loves looking after children. She has made a conscious decision to turn her home into a daycare location. Here is a warm and family type of environment the small children can play and learn fun teaching games. At the same time their emotional needs will be looked after.

These types of daycare home environment can stimulate your child into feeling happy and interested in learning the world around them. They will be able to play with other children and learn to behave in a social environment. The only real drawback to this type of care is that some of these daycare home 'mothers' have no experience in dealing with a fair amount of rambunctious toddlers.

In these places your child will be at risk from having the wrong care given. To make sure that you have chosen a daycare home center where you can be sure that your child is receiving good care you should see if you have the ability to visit the home center during the hours when your child is in the daycare home.

There are however daycare home centers where your child will be given not just loving care but also the foundation lessons which will allow them to interact with their peers in confidence. These places will have many items and toys that develop the interest of the children while they are kept entertained as well. There will be lessons where the children listen to stories and get to ask questions.

To develop their manual dexterity the daycare home center will have different items and toys a child will have fun using. Brightly colored musical instruments will be found as well. In these daycare home centers all aspects of a childs development is seen to.

There will be many items and toys for the child to have fun with. They will also be in an environment where the lessons of right and wrong can be reinforced in ways the child will understand and remember.

While a small number of children are found in daycare home centers this is not to the detriment of the place. Instead this small number of children allows the daycare provider to provide attention and care for each child properly. In this loving and home-like atmosphere your child will have learning their first social lessons.

Flash Games Are Good For You ; Good For Your Child

By Jonathan White

The computer games invariably render the young children technology savvy as they get interested into computers because of the games to start with. This sort of transforms a class lesson into a road to entertainment that is traveled with keen interest and sincerity. The familiarity with computers gradually developed into thorough knowledge and eventually attained a unique comfort level with computer technology and topics of relevance. It is always a matter of initiative with children. The first few steps into a subject render them confident and comfortable in the subject forever!

Online games relieve the parents to worry about the fellow children who can play with their child. The single child families are specifically benefitted as they do not have to rely on another child from neighborhood or otherwise, to join in and enrich the play for their child. They do not have to engage a baby sitter either, whose duties are generally to look after the safety of the child as he/ she does not sit at one place. Online games simply enchant the young minds and make them sit at one place… before the monitor screen of a computer !

The web is teeming with a wide variety of computer games, ranging from action and adventure to puzzles and word games… the online games offer ample variety for children to enthuse them into playing these games with initial assistance, wherever necessary. The board games are pretty enjoyable for children, who feel particulary attracted to bright and colorful animations provided by these games on interactive basis. The domino effect in these games is particularly enchanting for young children.

Whats more the good news does not end with replacement of a fussy and expensive baby sitter for your child, the good news extends beyond and above. Online computer games allow your child to learn subconsciously and refine ones motor skills, hand - eye coordination, reflexes, logical thinking and various other skills. Thus, in no uncertain words, the computer games allow pleasure and fun along with sharpened intelligence. The distraction provided by computer games take his/ her mind off from the fact that he/ she does not have any body else to play. The computer becomes his/ her steady friend.

Besides enhanced intelligence and exercise for eyes, the online games instil in your child a sense of understanding of what competition means. Because the online games do not present a direct challenge to his/ her ego, which often happens in group games when a child loses or wins, the online games help your child to accept win and lose in the same spirit. He/ she earns patiences and perseverance over time. Further, the child learns a very invaluable lesson of life… hardwork! The child learns that to achieve everything you want, you need to work hard. Moreover, with Human Resource Development people recognizing proficiency in playing computer games as an added advantage and a plus point in the profile, your child is better off with online flash and shockwave games in all respects.

Football and Sport Injuries in High School

By Jakob Culver

Before allowing your child to play the sport of football they should receive a full medical checkup, specifically inform the doctor they are going to need a physical to play a sport. This way the doctor can check for joint flexibility and heart health. After your child passes his physical you can then investigate the program and learn about any safety measures you can take.

A great way to avoid any injury while playing a sport is to maintain conditioning. That means your child needs to commit to practicing good nutrition habits and exercise. For optimal health when playing a sport year round conditioning is the best bet. At minimum your child should participate in a conditioning program six weeks before regular practices are scheduled to begin.

Its important to wear protective equipment in a contact sport like football is a must. Your child should wear a mouth guard to prevent dental injuries. It also can protect against sport injuries that typically occur to the jaw and some head injuries. Make sure your childs protective equipment fits properly!

No matter what sport you allow your child to participate in its a good idea to prepare for the worst and expect the best. The Use Of Preschool Games In And Out Of A Classroom

By Michelle Bery

For children under the age of five - or for those who have not yet started Kindergarten - a preschool program is an introduction to the classroom environment, where students have the opportunity to learn imperative social and educational lessons in a structured but informal environment. Research has shown us that a love for learning fostered in the preschool - through a comfortable, nurturing environment and guided by skilled teachers - can do much to ensure a lifetime of successful schooling. And because research has also shown that children of this age learn best through the process of play, preschool curriculums tend to be play based, including the use of preschool games.

There are a variety of ways to institute preschool games into the learning environment. Skilled preschool teachers are adept at presenting lessons in an enjoyable, participatory way that motivates children in a non-intimidating fashion. Some preschool games include the use of letter and number games to introduce language and mathematics, drawing to promote fine motor skills, physical play to encourage the development of gross motor skills, and games focused around books to help foster a love of reading. Savvy preschool programs also incorporate the use of computer games to help spark interest and teach fundamentals.

Aside from academic lessons, preschool games offer an opportunity for children to learn the all-important social lessons that come with working in a group. Children participate in taking turns, following directions, working together, and respecting each other's time to speak; there is also, of course, the ultimate benefit of children gaining a sense of accomplishment and self-confidence when completing a task.

Preschool games can be used out of the classroom as well. For children in this age group, a selection of preschool games used during a party will not only keep the interest of party guests but provide an educational experience as well.

The use of preschool games in the daily lives of children can help build a foundation of poise, analytical thought, and creativity - important lessons not to be overlooked.

Teaching Your Child How To Track Helps Early Literacy

By Deanna Mascle

Most educators agree that effective tracking skills are essential for understanding literacy and aiding learning as a whole, but some children have difficulty mastering tracking.

While a crucial step in learning to read, you can easily help your child develop these skills with many fun activities.

~ When you read to your child let them see you tracking by using your finger to underline the words as you read
~ Allow your child to explore books on their own and they will likely begin to mimic your behavior — tracing lines as they relate their version of the story
~ Make patterns with your child out of blocks, legos, beeds, or any other type of toy, game, or craft idea. Take turns making patterns for the other to copy.
~ Play games that utilize patterns such as hopscotch or board games. Create your own games indoors and out.
~ Use nature and real life to expose your child to tracking skills by watching a ball roll, a worm crawl, or a bird fly. Watch cars travel down the road or airplanes across the sky as your child gets better with tracking slower objects.

If your child continues to struggle with tracking skills then you might want to consider a software program created by educators (there are several on the market) to help with specific tracking activities.

Important Aspects Of Child Raising By A Working Mother

By Claire Quaty

There are many things that a working mother can do to help bridge the gap between work and raising the children and many times there are methods which are highly effective in raising the time that the mother has with the children. Of course you need to understand that working and raising a child is not all that easy. Sometimes people are very tired from their jobs as they are mentally and physically taxing. This speaks to finding the proper mix to make sure that everyone involved is on the same level.

The first and probably most important aspect of child raising by a working mother is to understand that a child is much more important than the making of extra money to buy things that one does not really need. More and more parents are finding that the search for more money should take a back seat to the raising of their child.

This is an important moment in the life of a child for the respect that a person finds when they spend more time with their children is great. When you come to this understanding you realize that working more hours is most likely not such a good idea when the child has a ball game or some special event that warrants your attention. The child will put much higher importance on the special event and put a lot of stock into your being there than you working to make some extra money to take care of the issues.

So for this reason you should try to put the needs and desires of the child ahead of extra money as much as possible. In most cases the child will feel much safer and secure knowing that you are with them at the special event. Of course this may not always be possible as this is something that you may need to explain to the child. You should not let the child take control of the situation or there may be worse problems down the road.

Secondly you should take the time that you have away from work and use it to the best of your ability to make sure the child understands how you are trying to spend as much time with them as possible. The child will learn that the time away from work that you spend with them is the time they have and learn to appreciate it as much as possible.

Getting Your ADHD Child Working Independently

By Hoe Bing

Getting Your ADHD Child Working Independently

Todays article is prompted by a question from a concerned parent.

The question was simple and direct, asking Why cant an ADHD child work alone?

In my experience and the experience of many child psychologist as well child psychiatrist, an ADHD child can very much work by themselves. Of course it takes a lot of effort and energy to cultivate the self restraining habit but nonetheless it is not only possible but doable.

A child with ADHD is gifted with many talents. One of them is hyperfocus. Hyperfocus is a state of focus whereby they are so absorbed into the things that they are engaged it that it literally shuts down their perception of all else happening around them. This blessing like any other is a double edged sword. Let me give you an example.

Suppose you are looking after an ADHD child who is playing soccer with his/her friends. The match is an intense one and you can see that he/she is really getting absorbed into it. One of the other kids make a mistake and the ball goes hurtling towards the road. The ADHD childs eyes are totally focused on the ball. All his/her energy forces him/her to maneuver and pursue the soccer ball despite whatever obstacles may be in their way. As the ball bounces towards the busy street, he/she runs with all his/her might with the sole purpose of getting the ball. They enter the hyperfocus state and literally shut out all external perceptions. In their mind, there is only them and the ball, and they are going to get it.

The above scenario happens not just with ADHD children but also with normal children. The only differentiating factor is that the ADHD child will have more hyperfocus events. Imagine what would happen if the ADHD child could harness their hyperfocus and apply it to studying. What would happen if they applied it to learning music? Or perhaps physics, like Einstein?

So let me get back to the question, Why cant an ADHD child work alone? There are a few very important implied meanings that we as parents, guardians and teachers must be aware of. The question assumes that an ADHD child cannot work alone. That is of course not true. It is simply in the early stages, they need to learn to develop the habit of doing things themselves. Notice that I said they need to develop the habit of doing things themselves, this involves dressing themselves, eating themselves, cleaning themselves etc. All the basic chores that we as humans are required to do must be mastered by the ADHD child first.

Often times the problem starts not because the ADHD child isnt able to work alone, it is that they have never had to work alone before. Think about how their lives are organized. Usually the parents are the ones who have to get them out of bed, perhaps coerce them into getting dressed. Then beg them to eat and finally persuade them to get on the car to go to school. All their whims and wishes are tended to immediately, there is no chance for them to learn to become independent.

So can we do to help the ADHD child?

The answer is very simple. Learn to communicate in their language and help them love the process of learning. Many ADHD children have short attentions spans so we are told. The truth is that they are easily distracted. This means that in any given situation you have to create the ideal environment that minimizes distractions. One where they are comfortable enough to be in but not so comfortable that they feel bored.

Next match their learning preferences by interacting with them. This usually takes the form of playing. Play to the ADHD childs preferred sense. If they are kinesthetic move about more, hug them, kiss them, use their arms, legs, head etc. If they are of auditory preference then talk to them, use language such as listen, hear, talk etc. The same goes for the ADHD child that loves to use their visual sense. Get them to use their eyes, make pictures in their heads, use words like see, picture, imagine, pretend etc.

The whole learning process is easy when they are having fun. So the goal to get an ADHD child to learn something and do it by themselves is to get them to like the subject or better yet love it and then own it.

Many parents I see cannot bear watching their child struggle for a short time while learning and I fully understand. But here is the catch, if you as the parent, guardian, teacher do not have the patience to allow the ADHD child to learn at his/her own pace then Im afraid the implicit assumption that an ADHD child cannot work alone will become a self fulfilling prophecy.

Be strong, be kind, be fun and learn to communicate the joy of learning to your ADHD child. You will find that once they understand the value of learning and start to love it, everything else will become easy too.

My best wishes to you and your children.

Golf Teaching Aids - Teaching Your Kids Golf

By Terry Edwards

It seems that kids are finding out what the adults already know: golf is a lot of fun! As your children may enjoy banging out golf balls with one of your golf clubs, where do you start in developing their skills? Here are some helpful golf training aids in giving your child a head start in learning to play golf.

Get Them In A Class One of the most important things you can do for your child is to enroll them in a golf class. Let the professionals teach them the right golf teaching tools. Many local golf courses have golf instructional classes just for kids. There is also no need to rush out and purchase a set of golf clubs for your child. The class will provide the golf clubs for them. Not only will you save some money right now, but it will give you time to find out if your child truly enjoys the game of golf or not. The last thing you want to do is go out and spend a few hundred dollars on golf clubs only to find out later that your child doesnt like golf after all.

Be Patient This tip is an important one for both you and your child. Have patience with your child. Its so easy to want to see your child start pounding long bombs like John Daly and sinking 30 foot putts. For them to enjoy golf and want to continue learning the game they need your support. Let them progress at their own rate. The golf classes will do a world of good in helping to develop their own skills.

Encouragement While your out hitting golf balls on the driving range, be sure and give your child a lot of encouragement, even if they are spraying balls all over the range. They will pick up the finer points of the game later as they grow older. Take a moment and think about how it was for you when you first started out.

After your child has taken some classes and shows a real interest in the game of golf, then go ahead and get them there own set of golf clubs. Gave your child fitted properly. Of course, since they will be continually growing in height and weight, understand that the clubs you buy today may be too small within a year or two at the most.

Have Fun Take the time that you spend golfing with your children as a time of bonding. Enjoy yourselves and the time youre out on the course. Use this time to develop good communication with your child. Talk about other issues going on other than golf. Youll be surprised at how the golf course can help you and your children bond together. It will spill over into other areas of their lives as well.
